Upgrade broke Immich!

What type of hardware are you using: Raspberry Pi 3, 4+
What YunoHost version are you running: 12.1.20
What app is this about: Immich

Describe your issue

I tried to upgrade Immich and the latest versions have been failing.
Apparently now the app is uninstalled for some reason, even though Immich still appears in mydomain/yunohost/admin/#/apps, but not in the main dashboard, and /var/www/immich seems to have dissapeared as well.
Is it possible to solve it without losing the data? or is it already lost?

Same here. Here are the logs:

I’m not sure if this issue is related and how to solve that: Update to 1.140.1~ynh2 fails: "JavaScript heap out of memory" · Issue #266 · YunoHost-Apps/immich_ynh · GitHub

@biva : in your case yes the issue is the same, the root cause too. There is not enough RAM+SWAP on your system and the helper used to add some swap automatically is not fully working. Please just wait for the upcoming 1.141.1~ynh1

Do you still have the backup immich-pre-upgrade1 ?

Yes, luckily it’s still there, should I restore it?

Yeah try

I get this when I try on the admin portal

Should I try to uninstall it and then restore?

3.2 GB that’s not normal… not sur that your backup is safe…
immich is actually detected as already installed, is it working ?

yeah I was looking at the same, 3.2gb seems a bit low, I think I have an old backup somewhere, I’ll try to find it.
Immich still appears in mydomain.com/yunohost/admin/#/apps, but not in the main dashboard, it’s not working at all

I found an old backup of 132gb which seems to be fine, I’ll try with that one

EDIT: I tried and still the same message “Immich is installed”, should I uninstall it and try again?

yes you should uninstall before any restoration.
Ab backup is about 1.5 to 2G without the datadir. With the data it depends of how much pictures/videos you uploaded.

This is getting worse :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

This is what happens when I try to restore the backup

EDIT: Trying on CLI now

The good news is that the backup worked using CLI!
But now I’m not sure if it’s safe to update Immich, or what precautions I should take beforehand.

I uninstalled and restored Immich, but it wasn’t a success: https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/jeqefipoye

@Pinipon could you please share exactly what you did using CLI?

I uninstalled Immich using GUI (can be done on CLI too I guess), and then I restored a backup with sudo yunohost backup restore 20250823-121419 --apps immich of course the filename should be the one of your backup

the issue seems coming from yunohost package, please update it (should be 12.1.22) and retry

Thank you @Pinipon , this worked for me too.

I tried to upgrade Immich to 1.141.1~ynh1 but it didn’t work (logs here: https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/ocuxatokumhttps://paste.yunohost.org/raw/ocuxatokum)

Do manually sudo rm -f /swap_immich first
