Describe your issue

Upgrading Rspamd from 4.1.4~ynh1 to 4.1.5~ynh1 failed during the upgrade. This caused the removal of the application so that the safety backup could be restored. The removal script ran apt autoremove --purge which also removed some jellyfin packages and in turn, the jellyfin user.

I ran the following to confirm the Jellyfin app was not actually removed:

$ sudo yunohost app info jellyfin
description: Media System that manage and stream your media
domain_path: schmidthaus.rocks/jellyfin
id: jellyfin
name: Jellyfin
version: 10.11.11~ynh1

Then I ran sudo yunohost app upgrade jellyfin --force to reinstall it overtop the existing data. Jellyfin works again.

Yeah this is a one time issue with Jellyfin because we changed the way it’s installed. You did the correct operation, it shouldn’t come back anymore

I’m wondering if “-- force” can also work in this case.
Nope, the upgrade stay on “Info: Updating apt…”

if you use the ui for rspam your upgrade will fail. the ui package sets a password in the main configfile and not in the include directory. This leads to dpgk asking if it should overwrite these changes, But because nobody ever ansers this question, the update fails.

Interesting, thank you for that information. It sounds like the rspamui package needs a tweak.

Has anyone managed to reinstall rspamd correctly?
as explained in the issue, i tried to remove rspamd, rspamdui, purged /etc/rspamd and /var/lib/rspamd

but rspamd’s install still failing :confused:

I think it failed because dpkg prompted for input but the upgrade script is not interactive.

Yes,

I did remove rspamd and the UI, removed /etc/rspamd completely,

and installed rspamd freshly again without problems.

Hi folks,

Same problem here… First, I tried to upgrade rspamd about 15d ago, it failed because of rspamdUI, so I uninstalled rspamdUI. I deleted /etc/rspamd and I still can’t reinstall it…

Do you have any clues? Thanks!

From the part of the log shown, the failure is not visible yet: it stops while installing the apt dependencies, so the useful bit is probably a few lines later where apt/dpkg actually errors out.

Could you share the full log as a paste/link? In the meantime, I’d check for a half-configured package or pending dpkg prompt:

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt install -f
sudo apt update
sudo apt install rspamd-ynh-deps

If one of these commands asks about keeping/replacing a config file, that would confirm the suspicion from earlier in the thread: the YunoHost install script can’t answer interactive dpkg questions. After resolving that manually, try the rspamd install again.
