First: I’m deeply impressed from this project, very exciting!
I do have a question about borg backup
My YunoHost server
Hardware: Old laptop at home YunoHost version: 4.1.7 I have access to my server : Through SSH | through the webadmin Are you in a special context or did you perform some particular tweaking on your YunoHost instance ? : no
Description of my issue
I installed the borg backup app.
I do own a rootserver @hetzner, too.
This Server does borg backups to a hetzner storage server with enough space for additional usage.
So I’m trying to backup my yunohost as well.
I wonder how is borg going to be started?
Via cron it is not, I guess?
As far as I am see the borg app lacks a descritpion how to set up the service correctly.
A new ssh key was generated under /root/.ssh/id_borg_ed25519
But one should inform the admin to put this /root/.ssh/id_borg_ed25519.pub
at the end of the authorized_key file on the borg archive server.
one could test at the commandline on the yunohost like this sftp -P 23 -i .ssh/id_borg_ed25519 uabc@uabc.your-storagebox.de:yuno
It should work without password
After that an execution of backup-with-borg should work.
Isit ok, so far?
Ohh, thanks for your tip.
Restic is definitely worth a look!
However, it’s apparently still at an early stage, so I don’t know if it should be relied upon in a production environment. (edit: just found the self-update feature, cool. )
I have had good experiences with Borg Backup so far, my root server is backed up with it and I appreciate the quick and easy restore. I have needed this a few times in the past 2 years.
Again, thanks for your advice, I’ll take a closer look and possibly use it in parallel with Borg.
To be clear. For me it works perfectly with borg
My second last post was only to impress that the documentation could be more detailed how to setup it. That was my intention
