Access same app via multiple hostnames

I want the installed apps to be reachable via multiple host names.
Which is not an unusual scenario.

I want hostname1.local/appname and hostname2.local/appname to both lead to the same thing.

This is due to being accessed via local network or remotely, depending on the network.

I want to be able to use hostname1.local/appname when I’m on the local network, but I have forwarding enabled by a VPN, which should allow me to use hostname2.local/appname.

I can’y unfortunately set up the same hostname for the installation as the domain2.local is provided by the VPN service.
