USB not active / external disk not shown

Hardware: Raspberry Pi 2 at home
YunoHost version: 3.7.1.1
I have access to my server : Through SSH & through the webadmin
Are you in a special context or did you perform some particular tweaking on your YunoHost instance ? : no

Description of my issue

I am trying to mount an external drive, a Thumb Drive, to have the backups on this drive instead of the local SD.
When I plug the USB drive into my Yunohost nothing happens.
lsusb and lsblk do only see the SD card.
On my desktop RasPi I can see the drive.

Any suggestions how to proceed ?
