Currently the synapse app support all architecture. But in the near feature when the matrix v2 branch will be merged the app will depends on the element call backend (livekit) which is only built for amd64, armv7 and arm64. So only theses 3 architectures will be supported compared with today, when the package support all architectures
And at some point (in about 6 month maybe) the package will also depends on the new authentication system based on MAS which is only released for amd64 and arm64.
So this post is to survey how many people depends on theses architecture. So please answer this following pool so we can have a better idea of the number of the impacted users by this coming change.
I will be impacted quickly, I’m on i386
I will be impacted quickly as I’m on an other architecture.
Damn each time i hear a news like that I cry for the planet as my xu4 or my turris omnia was so good at the job i was asking for.
I think unfortunately that all opensource projects are leaving 32 bits one by one. Nextcloud first, homeassistant or synapse next ? I had to change to 64 last year after nextcloud anoucement.
The plan should maybe to mitigate the arch migration as it was a bit messy for me, export backup, import in the new arch and then not all worked, mitigate with reinstalling or force updating. That was a stressfull moment, Will my mother die because of Nextcloud does not store anymore her photos .
And sell a new hardware redesigned “” or opensource compatible hardware.
Ask to build is possible but when the dependencies of the source will not be available for 32b ? i see a future without 32b
Maybe we should ask for a risv64 build as i think it will be the next
