Describe your issue

Hi there,

In short:

Lets say you want to add a googlemail and a yahoo address to sogo - how to get both working for sending and receiving mails?? I could not find any answer to that myself.

Longer version:
i am currently trying out sogo - and added some imap accounts - where getting and reading mails works fine.
Problem is sending mails - for that i just get the error:
“5.7.1 my.name@gmx.net: Sender address rejected: not owned by user name”

Which makes a bit sense as i did not find where settings for external smtp servers can be added.
Where - and if - this can be done - i could not find answers for that myself.

Anyone using sogo who knows how this can be solved? Or if its even possible?

Hello,

So firstly all feature related to the external account won’t work with oAuth, so there are a high chance that it won’t work with gmail by example.

Then, from what I remember some time ago, I saw something like a new feature to add an external SMTP account, as same as for IMAP, but I’m a bit annoyed because I can’t find any trace of this and in the UI it don’t seem to have this feature, so I don’t really know if we need to enable an option in the config file or if it was just not really implemented I don’t know.

For now if you don’t find any info about this, what I suggest is to send all email from your main account and use the “return address” feature so the person will send back then answer to the correct account.

Unfortunately I don’t have any more info about this but maybe doing more research on internet might give you more informations.

I searched a lot now - and didnt find a real answer.

so maybe the answer is already on the sogo website:

there it shows a gmail account - but says "multiple Mail Accounts
Configure all your mail accounts (IMAP) from SOGo and forget about login-in to multiple webmail services. " - so maybe thats intentional - as imap works - but sending does not.

If anyone finds/knows a different solution - let us know - but for me this means sogo is “read only” for my purposes.

Can’t help, but.
Yesterday, I was browsing the web to find a solution to a programming problem. I spent a crazy time in forums, blogs, reddits. Was not able to find anything. Then, at the last resort, I questioned an AI: it instantly gave me 4 solutions, and asked me which one I preferred, so that it would guide me through the different steps.
I don’t know if AIs have enough information about SOGo, but maybe you could try.

This will be brought by the next debian version.
