Should I change DNS PTR with my VPS provider?

What type of hardware are you using: VPS bought online
What YunoHost version are you running: 12.0.14
How are you able to access your server: The webadmin
SSH
Are you in a special context or did you perform specific tweaking on your YunoHost instance ?: No

Describe your issue

When I first set up my VPS a couple of years ago I used free YUNOhost domain (.nohost.me). Now I mostly use domains that I have bought.
I just noticed that the .nohost.me domain is still set as the DNS PTR with my hosting provider. Is this a problem in any way?
I know that in the past some of my outgoing emails have been flagged as junk by the recipient’s email provider and have had some issues getting Fediverse apps to federate, but I don’t know if it’s related.
I don’t understand DNS very well and have just followed the recommendations that the YUNOhost webadmin has given me.

Many thanks!

Context:

Maybe this .nohost.me is still configured / used in YunoHost and maybe it still is your “main domain” in which case it’s expected to be the DNS PTR (reverse DNS)

You could also decide to remove it entirely and chose a different main domain … but keeping the .nohost.me doesn’t hurt I suppose

Anyway, the YunoHost diagnosis should complain about reverse DNS in the “mail” section. If it’s not complaining about it, then it’s probably fine :winking_face_with_tongue: !
