Describe your issue
Hello,
I only see very old posts about sharing a calendar between two users.
What the best way to do this ? I would like a second user in read-only mode.
Thank’s
1/ I don’t know how a non admin user can access to baikal to share his calendar with another user (in read only mode for example), this is what I’m looking for. Is there a graphical interface for this ? I can’t do it in admin graphical interface (there I can only create users).
2/ SSO for baikal is not working, I suppose it’s because I don’t avec ldap
There has been some discussion of how to share Baikal calendars between apps and users on the forum over the years. Some people seem to have successfully done it, but without sharing their full process on the forum or the documentation, unfortunately.
I haven’t successfully shared a Baikal calendar with other users, but I’m interested in what you find out. Here is a thread where sharing Baikal calendars are discussed (but without solution): Monica CRM - CardDAV & General discussion - #2 by nqo
Another thing you could try is experimenting with Davis. It is a more fully-featured webdav app from the makers of Baikal. It may have more obvious/helpful/extensive documentation generally that can provide clues for sharing calendars between users.
One thing I remember from reading forum posts a while ago is that sharing a Baikal calendar to a Yunohost user group was discussed.
Yes, SSO for Baikal doesn’t work out of the box. Your options are:
manually create users in Baikal with the same credentials as on Yunohost
fix LDAP permissions between Yunohost and Baikal by installing LDAPMyAdmin and fiddling with the LDAP permissions using instructions from the forum (I don’t have a link sorry)
install the Dex app and use that for SSO instead of the default. It also takes some faffing to get to work.
I don’t think baikal is the more straightforward choice for your needs (enabling public sharing seems… a bit painful, judging by this -maybe outdated- page).
Did you have a look at nextcloud calendar app ?
From comparing docs from different apps I got the impression that for sharing calendars and also email folders between users with official support there would be the app “sogo”, but the sogo yunohost configuration still seems to need some tweaking. At least folder sharing was reported to be non-effective. (LDAP groups possibly, and I think there was a thread or issue about dovecot permissions, or extra module.)
Thank’s for all your answers, I eventually succed ! So it’s possible !
1/ Login with baikal admin created in Yunohost
2/ In Baikal admin “system settings”
change :
WebDAV authentication type > basic (I have no ldap)
3/ In Baikal admin “users”
create
user1 : with default calendar, (the calendar to share)
user2 : with default calendar, (I removed the default calendar for this user), this user should access user1’s calendar
4/ Sharing
access user1 special page for his default calendar, user1 login and password:
