Describe your issue
Hi all!
I ran a Yunohost server on Debian (online hosting provider) in 2020 and recently shut down that server to build one at my office instead. I performed a backup, and then I installed the latest version of Yunohost on the new rig. When I try to restore the backup, it simply says “this is from an old yunohost”.
There are websites and Wordpresses on that backup that I would like to have access to again. Should I install the old 3.8 version instead (and if so, would love advice on how to do that) or is there a better way to get those sites back from the backup .tar.gz?
Thanks in advance for the support! Appreciate any insight

Restore did not complete, backup is from an old version
Thanks for the reply Jarod! The version I installed recently was 11 (new machine), the backup from which I was working with before was 3.8. Is there a build link for that somewhere too? The archive link gave me a 404
Hello !
1- Try to install yunohost 3.6 if you can on a Virtual machine on your machine. https://repo.yunohost.org/images/releases_archive/yunohost-stretch-3.6.4.6-amd64-stable.iso
2- Update if possible to 3.8 or if can’t update to 3.8 try restoring on 3.6
3- If successful, Try to migrate to yunohost 11 or newer
4- If step 3 successful, test yours apps and websites
5- If everything right make a backup and then restore it to the target machine
The installation of the iso is not completed, as it required the Yunohost repository (deb Index of /debian/ stretch stable) which has been suppressed at the end of life of YNH 3.x.
I have tried:
Installing that iso to multiple virtual machines, the “forge.yunohost” key step (along with the debian archive mirror step) seem to cause the most issues. I’ve got a stretch debian VM up and running and ready to start the next things, but have yet to get the yunohost application installed.
Happy to wait for more info, thanks again for all the support and help to date!
