Hardware: amd64 hp server rack in my home YunoHost version: 11.1.21.4 (stable) I have access to my server : Through SSH and through the webadmin Are you in a special context or did you perform some particular tweaking on your YunoHost instance ? : I have some custom nginx but that’s it
Description of my issue
I recently got a domain name that I would like to use at the same time as my nohost.me domain, because I have a Mastodon (glitchsoc) instance running on a subdomain of my nohost.me domain, and need to leave it running while I set up a new Mastodon using my new domain. This should be possible, since yunohost supports running multiple installations of mastodon glitchsoc at once.
When I try to set up the DNS of my domain (through porkbun), it fails and says “a CNAME record with that host already exists”. What do I do to allow multiple domains pointing to my server? Thank you.
go to porkbun, look for your domain, click details, DNS Records, Edit, create an A record Type, Host is your @ for root or add www or add a subdomain, then answer is yunohost ip address External,
on yunohost webadmin, go to Domains, Add domain, selection I already have a domain name…, add the domain you want to add mastodon or glitchsoc to not sure if you root domain or subdomain
after domain is added go to application install click on mastodon or glitchsoc, select new domain, install done.
Thank you for the quick response. I actually found out it was because porkbun had a preexisting DNS record for the domain I bought (placeholder page to tell visitors the domain was bought). I just had to erase that and it worked. I incorrectly thought the error was saying I could only have one domain per IP.
