Describe your issue
Hi!
I’ve set up my Pixelfed instance and it’s already linked to the Fediverse (328 instances and 9,100 photos from outside).
However, there seem to be many bugs related to my database choice, PostgreSQL ([Tracking issue] PostgreSQL feature and function parity with MySQL · Issue #2727 · pixelfed/pixelfed · GitHub), and I don’t feel that I can invite people to participate yet, as basic things aren’t working, such as clicking on ‘following’ and not being able to follow, incorrect follower counts, etc. It’s too basic; I can’t even market the instance in its current state! People on the Pixelfed GitHub say it’s because of the database choice, and since nobody has been able to solve it, things have been like this for a long time.
So, I wanted to know if it’s possible to migrate to a MySQL database without losing all the federated posts I have now. I know that Pixelfed uses Laravel, and I imagine that they have an ORM which could facilitate the migration process. However, I don’t know how to do it, and I’m not confident that AI chatbots will be able to help me with this. Has anyone tried to do this before? Or would I need to restart the instance from scratch?
