Permission denied to Minetest

Hi Guys and Gals -
Continuing the discussion from SFTP/SSH Permission Denied:

My YunoHost server

Hardware: Old laptop or computer
YunoHost version: 11.2.12
I have access to my server : Through SSH | through the webadmin | and maybe direct access via keyboard / screen | …
Are you in a special context or did you perform some particular tweaking on your YunoHost instance ? : no special context

Description of my issue

This thread I linked to ended abruptly with a warning about chmod 777 being insecure - so what is the correct way to change permissions? I don’t want to get hacked.

What I’m trying to do: download some minetest mods on my personal machine and then transfer / copy the mods (using FileZilla) to my server - specifically to the minetest folder. But SFTP on Filezilla doesn’t allow SUDO (restricted because I’m remoting into the yunohost server?).

Anyway, what’s the correct / secure / best way to transfer files from one machine to the server using ssh / filezilla / etc?

There is an admin documentation here

You may need to enter the app environment before adding mods by sudo yunohost app shell minetest so the files get the right ownership. And please avoid using 777, that’s the devil number for Linux.
