Paid host for email, Yunohost for Nextcloud with one domain?

Hi there,
I have a paid webhost and a yunohost box. I want to use one single domain (no subdomain) with email on my paid host and Nextcloud on my yunohost box.

Would it work to point my domain’s MX records to my paid host, but set my A records to my Yunohost IP address?
