The nextcloud app has a Pull Request (not merged yet) done by @ericg that is v2 and that automates the change of database from Mariadb to PostreSQL, using the migration command line tool included in Nextcloud server. It should be doable although not easy.
However, my question was more about : can I install or will it break my instance ?
I would say that YunoHost has a very good backup and restore system, so try it and report back.

What is the recommendation ? Is the app assuming I have to perform a manual migration to PostgreSQL before I can benefit from the latest updates ?
