"MatrixError: [500] Internal server error" when uploading images/files

Description of my issue

I set up a fresh yunohost server today and installed synapse. SSL certificates are all stored correctly. If i want to upload a profile picture or a file in general via matrix it is not possible, i get the error message “MatrixError: [500] Internal server error”". Is there a trick to fix this error? Synapse was installed on its own domain.

I have a similar problem, with the main difference being that I have an old installation, with a few years of working uploads.

I digged a little bit, I can upload images to encrypted rooms, unencrypted rooms fails.

Can confirm that this fixed it for me. I was able to upload images, but I couldn’t change the space/room picture and profile pictures.
