I already tried to run synapse several times but I always run into performance balancing issues.
So I had a look at matrix.org and I saw, there are different implementations of the matrix protocol - for example: https://conduit.rs. The question now is, is there probably a matrix server implementation which fits the selfhosting setup better?
I think Synapse is currently most suitable for huge communities (as it is used by matrix.org and developped by them), but I have currently no idea about the current state of alternatives servers.
My server is strong enough to host Synapse, but as it is nearly not federated, and with less than 10 users, I will be happy if an alternative becomes available in YunoHost
