Mail not working on mail client (Mailbird / Thunderbird)

I tried to add my email account on “Mailbird” and got an error message saying “can’t connect to IMAP server”. Tried on Thunderbird, not working either. Thing is, my email is working perfectly when I’m using webmail ( Afterlogic Webmail & Atmail ). I can send and receive email just fine. Any idea why desktop email client doesn’t work?

  2. Y a-t-il des informations sur les tentatives de connexion mailbird/Thunderbird dans les fichiers log du serveur: /var/log/mail.*

Yup… I did exactly what the instruction says. The setting is the same like I set it for my webmail.

Nope, check all the log files… .err .log .info.

Pour tester les ports plusieurs solution:

Pour les log je commencerai par regarder /var/log/mail.log pendant que j’essaie de me connecter avec le client de messagerie:

  1. tail -n 50 -f /var/log/mail.log

  2. Tentative de connexion du client mail thunderbird ou mailbird

  3. Ctrl+C pour terminer la commande tail

  4. Analyse des lignes de log (stdout tail) pour trouver la source du problème

Yup… I’ve checked. All necessary port is open.

Try reloading devecot and postfix.

thank you guys for helping! found the problem. Because of the hairpinning. Try it on my phone using 3g connection and it work. Then I tried bypassing the hairpinning on my local network and everything works fine.
