Well i am/was a ‘magikJack’ user. A popular very cheap voip phone-replacement service here in america. Finally it’s a terrible service & i want a cheap phone so why not install my own since i am on linux…

asterisk

I haven’t come across a VoIP app in Yuno myself, but I’ve used quite a few others like Skype and WhatsApp for similar needs. When it comes to managing SMS promotions, I’ve found using a phone number generator really effective. It helps me keep my main number clear of all those annoying marketing texts. Have you tried any VoIP apps before? They can be handy for making calls and staying connected without relying on traditional phone services. Exploring different apps might lead you to one that fits perfectly with what you’re looking for.

FreePBX / or something else running asterisk that allows you to connect a voip provider to make calls or just use calls by extension without a voip provider.

Apparently, out of the Public Switched Telephone Network, you are supposed to be able to do voice calls through XMPP using Coturn.

Same for matrix / synapse / element which have the call feature.

I’ve been running a setup with it using SIP over my own server, and once the ports and DNS were sorted, it worked well with softphones on desktop and mobile.

Tried setting up VOIP on Yuno a while back, and the built-in options were pretty limited. Ended up running calls through a small cloud call center setup instead, and it worked surprisingly well. Calls came through clear, and routing between devices was smooth.
