Description of my issue
Anyway to use Lychee with YunoHost ? I couldn’t find it in the apps and so far it seems like the best google photos selfhosted alternative i’ve found.
It’s possible to install it using Custom Webapp. Here’s how :
- From YunoHost web admin or shell, add a Custom Webapp with a MySQL database and make it public.
- Once done, navigate to the app’s folder in
/var/www - Remove the default www folder :
sudo rm -r www
- Follow the official instructions (https://github.com/LycheeOrg/Lychee/wiki/Installation) to get Lychee and its dependencies in the www folder and set the correct permission settings.
- Access the webapp and enter the database information, found in the app’s folder in
db_access.txt. - That’s all! Lychee is setup.

Just out of curiosity. Is it planned to make Lychee an official app?

There is no concept of official apps anymore, there just are quality levels, and some apps qualify as “high quality” (level 8) : https://github.com/YunoHost/apps#how-to-make-my-app-a-high-quality-app-
But anyway it’s up for the volunteers packaging / maintaining the app to proceed with this.

In a way, the fact this category is named Community apps may suggest that there are, in contrast, «official» apps

Yup indeed, that’s because historically there were official and community apps 
But it’s all unified now. If you will, there’s no official apps anymore), but there are “official tests results” and there’s the high-quality level I was mentionning which should include more guarantee regarding long term maintenance and reviews by the rest of the community

My phrasing was a bit off. I tried to ask if Lychee is developed by somebody into a native app, as opposed to the workaround with the custom webapp. Is that more precise?
