How would you go on with Olimex Lime2 and yunohost11

Discuss

Hello yunohost community,
I have this arm64 board from Olimex called Lime2. I flashed the SD and installed the bullseye system and accordingly yunohost to my attached ssd, thanks to Cyrille [1]

The software runs fine. I can configure the yunohost system the way I want. However, I cannot install any of my wanted catalog applications due to statements like these:
"This application requires YunoHost >= 12.1.28 but your current installed version is 11.3.0.2, consider first upgrading YunoHost. "
For sure → Everything is already up-to-date.

Now I’m in conflict. I want my apps installed and I want security updates. Dist-upgrading to bookworm will fail with a high probability. Unfortunately the vendor doesn’t seem to support bookworm. [2]

So far I consider these options:

  1. keep bullseye and yunohost11. Then manually picking package versions for apps and being annoyed
  2. use armbian community edition [3] to flash my olimex with latest debian system, then install yunohost.
  3. Another possibility may be to use the freedombox-trixie image [4] and install yunohost from command line. Would it work or result in freaking conflicts?

What would be your choice and why? Any other idea? I’m all open to use my existing hardware for a long term productive server environment

Thank you <3

  1. Is not a solution, it’s a workaround
  2. This should be the best option for you. Make a full backup. Use a different SD card and ssd (or hdd). Install yunohost and restore the backup (don’t run the post install). Check every app is working.
  3. This most certainly won’t work

Hi

Why not just migrate from yunohost 11 to 12?

I’ve done this several times on my servers without much trouble

?

Thanks!
There is no migration to be run. I think this process would migrate your ynh11 app configs to fit to ynh12.

$ sudo yunohost tools migrations run
Info: No migrations to run

If I understood correctly, I cannot upgrade yunohost 12 because the base system is still debian bullseye and not debian bookworm. (due to the lacking support from olimex)

No, i think the issue is that you installed yunohost 11 after the migration for ynh12 has been published, so all previous migrations to the date of your installed has been marked as done (and it’s not true).

You should be able to list migrations

yunohost tools migrations list

And to force the migration

yunohost tools migrations run 0027_migrate_to_bookworm --force-rerun

That looks like a possible solution to my issue. Sorry, I could not test and verify your approach.

I was too fast in getting to run an archived armbian bookworm image for my lime2 [1]. It enabled me to flash SD, install on sda and curlbash the yunohost12 environment.

Fortunately, as I’m a new yunohost user, I didn’t have to care about any serious backups.

Thanks everyone for your input!
