What type of hardware are you using: Old laptop or computer What YunoHost version are you running: 12.0.11
Describe your issue
I have two same size ssd’s in my system.
One has not been formatted or mounted yet (don’t know, yet, how to do that)
The idea is to do an image copy of the complete active disk to the second disk, so that in case the first ssd breaks down, I can restart in bios and simply bootup the second one.
Copy image could be done in a weekly fashion.
Both disks are internal ssd’s in the computer.
I would need to know how to activate the second disk too.
I use winscp and login as root, that is fine, isn’t it?
Guess I need to study linux it bit more (a lot more) but getting there.
The method I suggested is a cold backup method (the disk is unmounted from the server during the backup, services are interrupted), which has the advantage of guaranteeing that there is no writing on the disk during its copying and therefore avoiding any corruption/missing fragments and limiting the risks when restoring to the new disk.
If your two disks are connected to the same machine, the simplest thing to do is to:
shut down YunoHost
boot from a medium other than the disks to be copied (a USB key, for example) on a lightweight Linux distribution
You can use clonezilla on a USB stick. This will require some downtime and manual intervention on site.
Not sure if you will continue this process weekly.
I would recommend to use a hdd or a remote disk and mount it on /home/yunohost.backup. Install yunohost on the second disk (after disconnecting the first) without running the postinstall and mount the same disk on the same folder.
Cron a daily backup or the way you want.
In case of incident, boot from the second disk, run yunohost restore of the latest backup. It shouldn’t take long. After that, you’re done.
This would be better.
