Describe your issue
I’ve been trying to update Ghost (two instances) from 6.61.0-ynh1 to 6.67.0-ynh1, and have constantly had the update script fail. Neither the update button in Yunohost, nor the CLI command have been successful.
In a devastating turn of events, Yunohost has since deleted my two Ghost instances, is failing to restore the backups, and can’t even install a fresh instance.
Check what node version you have with ls /opt/node_n/n/versions/node then replace the version number in the systemd file with the one you have and restart the service
I have node version 22.23.3 installed. I’ve found and edited the version number in the systemd files, but struggling to repackage the backup folder as a tar archive. I think I’m at the end of my technical rope here.
Is there any chance I can either downgrade my version of node temporarily, or expect a fix through Yunohost?
Ok, so it seems that running the restore command in SSH for the nth time managed to get the sites back up! The Ghost daemons still wouldn’t run, but I was then able to update systemd files in the live instances, and reboot my server!
Not sure if it’s worth attempting an upgrade again, but it looks like there’s an open ticket filed on Github, so hopefully this won’t be an issue for too long.
No need to extract the archive.
You can try restoring your backup archive with --no-remove-on-failure option.
Once done, check which version of node.js 22 is currently installed on your system: ls -la /opt/node_n/n/versions/node/ (22.23.x, 22.x.x, etc.)
Then edit /etc/systemd/system/ghost.service and update the node.js version to match the one installed on your system.
Run systemctl daemon-reload and systemctl restart ghost.service.
Alternatively you can restore the archive with --no-remove-on-failure option and then reinstall the version the service requires : N_PREFIX=/opt/node_n/ /usr/share/yunohost/helpers.v2.1.d/vendor/n/n install 22.23.2 Then restart the service and reload nginx.
Replace ghost with ghost__2 for the 2nd instance.
