Funkwhale mobile (android) app login problem

I am having issues connecting to my Yunohost Funkwhale server from my android mobile.

I’m unsure if this is a Funkwhale android app issue or a server issue so please bear with me.

I am able to connect to the Funkwhale app via my browser on my desktop.

However, when I try and log in using the Funkwhale Android app, nothing happens. I put my funkwhale domain in (audio.mydomain.com.au) and click “log in” and the screen doesn’t change. There’s not even any indication that the button has been clicked.

If I put in a different server (one from the funkwhale.audio site) and click the log in button, the app redirects to my browser to log in. For this reason I suspect there’s something about my server setup that’s not triggering the same response.

However, I logged in to the matrix chat forum for Funkwhale and read there that the Funkwhale android app is not being maintained so I’m still open to the possibility that it’s an app issue.

Has anyone else had this problem with Funkwhale? Can you recommend an android client that works well with Funkwhale on Yunohost?

Share relevant logs or error messages

Nothing relevant found in the funkwhale beat log and both the other logs are empty.

Is your Funkwhale installation available for visitors (in Yunohost wabadmin > users > permissions?

I’ve just tried, it works but you have to wait a bit after clicking on ‘log in’
Did you try with https:// before the domain?

No it isn’t.

I plan to keep this for a small group (family and friends only) so I wanted to keep it protected behind the YunoHost SSO.

Does it have to be open to the world in order to be accessed by the Android App?

Of course. Apps are expecting to access it directly, they don’t know how to handle sso

I did try with and without the https:// before the domain

I also left it for a while after clicking the login button, though seconds rather than minutes. How long do you need to wait?

Normally not since the latest update of today :slight_smile:

Oh it’s something about 15 seconds max

OK, I eventually resolved this. I set the permissions briefly to allow visitors, connected my app and then removed visitor permissions. This seems to be working fine now.
