Error in restore backup for synapse

What type of hardware are you using: Old laptop or computer
What YunoHost version are you running: 12.1.39
How are you able to access your server: Direct access via physical keyboard/screen
Are you in a special context or did you perform specific tweaking on your YunoHost instance ?: No

Describe your issue

I tried running Synapse upgrade via the web interface, but it failed and no I cannot restore from backup.

The web interface gives me:
Connection with the server has been closed for unknown reasons. Maybe 'yunohost-api' is down? - whenever I try to enter “backups” to find the latest synapse pre-upgrade backup.

and SSH with yunohost backup restore synapse-pre-upgrade1.tar does run in a terminal, but abandons at the end with this log: (shared below) that hints at it being an issue with the script, maybe?
