Connection problem from local network

Hello,

I’ve been testing Yunohost for a while and finally made the switch. It’s really easy to use and offers great flexibility.

I don’t host my server in a data center, I open it up to the world from my home internet. I don’t get a lot of traffic and that’s quite enough infrastructure for me.

The computer I use as a server is actually running a windows 11 and I have several virtual servers. Yunohost is one of them and it has been working fine for the last few months. I can access my websites from outside, really zero problems and very fast.

But there is one big problem, I have a hard time accessing it from devices that I am connected to the same router. I fixed this by editing the hosts file as necessary on Windows, MacOs and Linux devices in the first place. However, I cannot connect via wifi on devices such as iphone and ipad. I tried changing the dns manually for this but this was not a solution either. After researching for a while, I learned about dnsmasq settings and tried them too, but there was no solution.

I think there must be some of you who have this problem like me. If anyone can find a solution and share it, it would be great for the community. I couldn’t find a clear solution in the forum posts on this topic, or I’m a newbie in hosting my own server so I couldn’t understand and apply the solution.

I had a similar problem with mattermost. It was due to /etc/hosts. I have added some lines to be able to install let’s encrypt certs : 127.0.0.1 mydomain . After deleting this line it worked.
I figured it out using the traceroute command. It stopped at 127.0.0.1

Sometimes this is because of your internet router not supporting hairpinning (or some misimplementation of it, i’m not sure)
