[App Request] IMDb alternative (personal movie/TV tracking and database app)

Hello,

I feel the lack of a self-hosted IMDb alternative on YunoHost that can serve as a personal movie/TV tracking and database application.

There are already nice options in the catalog such as Libremdb (IMDb front-end) and Yamtrack (media tracker). However, I would love to see a more comprehensive modern alternative that offers personal collection management, ratings, watchlists, calendar views, and ideally integrations with Jellyfin/Plex/Radarr.

I’m particularly interested in apps like:

  • NeoDB
  • or other open-source IMDb/Trakt/Letterboxd alternatives with similar features

Adding such an application to YunoHost would be very useful for many people who run media servers.

If any packagers or maintainers are interested, I’d be happy to hear about it.

I can see NeoDB is already wishlisted, the other alternatives - not yet.

Have a look at GitHub - YunoHost/example_ynh: Example package for YunoHost applications. · GitHub and 📦 Application packaging | Yunohost , packaging apps is not that scary. Perhaps you wish to give a spin yourself?

Thank you for the information and the links.

I understand that app requests usually go through the Application Wishlist, and it’s good to know that NeoDB is already listed there.

That said, not everyone has the technical knowledge or time to package an application themselves. Packaging may not be that scary for experienced people, but for many ordinary users (including myself) it still feels quite advanced.

That’s why I believe having a ready-to-use content rating / media tracking application available by default (or at least easily installable) would make life much easier for a lot of people. Not everyone can be as skilled as the packagers and maintainers here — most of us just want a simple, working solution.

I really appreciate the work the community does. I just wanted to highlight that for less technical users, having such tools readily available makes a big difference.
