First, I want to extend a huge thank you for all the hard work you put into Yunohost. I’ve recently started using the platform, and I’m really impressed by the care and dedication that has clearly gone into it. This is also my first message on the forum!
Before Yunohost, I used the paid version of Cloudron, but Yunohost (which is free!) has honestly given me more value hosting my numerous Ghost CMS websites.
I’ve been following the progress on the Debian 12 transition, and I check the discussion page Beta-stage testing for YunoHost 12.0/Bookworm and Bullseye->Bookworm migration - #183 by sankayop almost daily to see any updates. I was wondering if it’s reasonable to expect an official release by the end of the year, or if there are still major blockers that need to be addressed first. Knowing an approximate release date would help me stop obsessively checking the forum so often!
I really appreciate any insights, and again, thank you so much for all the incredible work!
About the migration to Bookworm, it’s currently in beta state. You can easily find more infos about it on the forum.
Although it’s in beta, my Yunohost runs on Bookworm since a few month now, and it works perfectly fine!
If you are a tech savvy person, be welcome to try and share your feedback. If you prefer to wait for the official stable release, no problem, but you never know when it will be available until the release.
Welcome! I’d like to make sure you know about the warning we display upon installing Ghost for YunoHost:
Arbitrary limitations: Ghost developers have chosen to only support MySQL. YunoHost relying on MariaDB, incompatibilities may arise. For more information: TryGhost/Ghost#15729 (comment)
It is not sure things will keep going or fail at all, maybe it will be fine over time, it really depends on their support for MariaDB (or like they suggest, another dependency’s support for it), but be wary and ready to debug things if your numerous websites are sensitive in your daily operations.
Thank you for the polite response and for gently pointing me to the Forum rules — it all seems very reasonable and fair, given the amount of work (and its quality!) put into it. I’m sure this post will save others from asking the same question too.
p.s. I’ll wait for the official stable release though, as I’m not that tech-adventurous. Looking forward to the release when it’s ready!
