My YunoHost server

Description of my issue

Hi Yunohost community! I would like to install Yunohost in a container or VM on my Proxmox physical server. Which ISO should I use?

I found this GitHub - scith/yunohost-proxmox: Proxmox LXC template for YunoHost but would like to get confirmation from someone else that has Yunohost running in Proxmox whether I can use an ISO directly from Yunohost.org instead, and what tweaks might be required to get it to install. Also, whether you would recommend a VM or a container.

Don’t use container, it’s more annoying if, for instance, you need to create a VPN client interface.

It would be more comfortable to use a VM instead.

And with a VM, you can use the Regular computer image or install a Debian 11 and the Install script after it.

LXC containers on proxmox can work very well too. I would start with a Debian installed from images available in Proxmox and then, within that container, proceed with the install script Install YunoHost | Yunohost Documentation

I was thinking about privileged or unprivileged containers in case of vpn usage (need to create /dev/something) like in OpenVPN in LXC.

I remembered that it’s the kind of situation I had with a container but not with a vm.

At the end… only possibilities and the choice is libre :upside_down_face:

Hello,

I use a Yunohost VM on my Proxmox since … several year.
I would advise you to use a VM.

First, because the lxc share their kernel with the host system. So you may have problems when updating Yunohost or your Proxmox.

Secondly lxc are not realy adapted to run several applications.
If you want to use only one or two applications why not … but in this case I would advise you to install the application without yunohost.

For the iso, preferably uses the Regular computer or you could use curl https://install.yunohost.org | bash on a Debian 11 fresh install.
