Upgraded from 4.x to 11.x and I can't install apps

Hey!

I have used yunohost for a very long time. And it has always made running a server so easy, my admin skills are poor. Thanks for such a great tool.

I waited a long time to upgrade my VPS to Bullseye. I chose to install yunohost from scratch on Bullseye, and simply backup and restore my system, users, and apps. The latter only semi-worked. Some of the apps did not, but suspected I could remove them, and reinstall them, and things would be good. I was wrong!

My YunoHost server

Hardware: VPS bought online
** YunoHost 11.2.3 (stable)

I have access to my server : Through SSH & through the webadmin
Are you in a special context or did you perform some particular tweaking on your YunoHost instance ? : no
If yes, please explain:

Description of my issue

After upgrade, maybe because of directory changes, as a guess, I can not install apps via the webamdin, or commandline.

Via the webadmin I get an alert panel with the following message:

[GET] /apps/manifest?app=roundcube&with_screenshot

YunoHost encountered an internal error

Really sorry about that.

You should look for help on the forum or the chat to fix the situation, or report the bug on the bugtracker.
The following information might be useful for the person helping you:

Error: "500" Internal Server Error

Action: "GET" /yunohost/api/apps/manifest?app=roundcube&with_screenshot&locale=en

Error message:

Could not fetch source files, is the URL correct?

From the CLI, I get the following:

root@:~# yunohost app install ://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/roundcube_ynh
Error: Command ‘[‘git’, ‘ls-remote’, ‘–symref’, ‘://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/roundcube_ynh’, ‘HEAD’]’ returned non-zero exit status 128.
Error: Could not fetch source files, is the URL correct?
root@:~# yunohost app install ://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/roundcube_ynh.git
DANGER! This app is not part of YunoHost’s app catalog. Installing third-party apps may compromise the integrity and sec
urity of your system. You should probably NOT install it unless you know what you are doing. NO SUPPORT will be provided
if this app doesn’t work or breaks your system… If you are willing to take that risk anyway, type ‘Yes, I understand’
: Yes, I understand
Error: Command ‘[‘git’, ‘ls-remote’, ‘–symref’, ‘://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/roundcube_ynh.git’, ‘HEAD’]’ returned non-zero exit status 128.
Error: Could not fetch source files, is the URL correct?

Any ideas on how to rectify this? Some apps did work after upgrade, and others did not. I would happily reinstall the ones that did not, but I can not install anything due to what looks to be a git issue.

Thank you!,

aia

Can you check that you have an IPv4, in the Diagnosis page for example?

It does not. My new VPS only has IP6, I thought that might be the issue too, but I was really hoping it was not. I may be able to reverse proxy from another server, but that will surly mess with mail services, no?

Github has shamefully not enabled IPv6 on its servers, that’s why you are not able to download apps.

You do not need to reverse proxy, but to use a VPN with a VPN server with IPv4 to redirect the IPv4 traffic towards it.
