Stuck on "installing packages ..100%" when launching script

I’m using these instructions to try and install yunohost on a ubuntu vps https://yunohost.org/#/install_manually

but when i launch the script it just says

Installing packages

…100%

and it stays stuck on that forever

this happens if you use a terminal that cant open the install menu (like guake drop down terminal)
