Ssh login is refused

Hiya all yunohosters!

My YunoHost server

Hardware: PC self build
YunoHost version: 11.1.15 (stable).
I have access to my server : direct access via keyboard / screen | …
Are you in a special context or did you perform some particular tweaking on your YunoHost instance ? : no

Description of my issue

I cannot login via ssh anymore. There are many failed login attempts and the following command output shows this.

sudo fail2ban-client status sshd
......Currently failed:1
      Total failed:       46
      File List;          /var/log/auth.log

      Actions
      -Currently banned:2
     -Total banned:       2
     Banned IP list:      35.239.149.2 218.92.0.192

Hi,

Is your ip one of the two which are listed ?

Do you login with password or key ?

None of those ip is mine and I sign in with password

Did you take a look at /var/log/auth.log after an attempt ?

Lots of failed logins!!!
What do I need to do to stop this?
I can

  • reboot
  • Shut down
  • Change public IP by restarting my router
  • Reinstall the server
  • Change all the security settings again: port,password,stop webadmin,etc.

I definitely need help and soon… :scream: :fearful: :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Hiya yunohosters,

just in case that somebody else ends up in this situation here is my solution:

> access the yunohost server directly (via keyboard and screen)
> log into your client computer by ssh
> from your client computer you should be able to log into your yunohost server now via ssh

This is related to the /etc/hosts file!
