Nextcloud data directory invalid error

My YunoHost server

Hardware: Raspberry Pi 3B+ at home
YunoHost version: YunoHost 4.3.6.2 (stable).
I have access to my server : Through SSH, through the webadmin
Are you in a special context or did you perform some particular tweaking on your YunoHost instance ? : No

Description of my issue

  • Everything was working fine till last night
  • This morning when connecting to Nextcloud I got the following error:

Your data directory is invalid Ensure there is a file called “.ocdata” in the root of the data directory. Cannot create “data” directory This can usually be fixed by giving the webserver write access to the root directory. See Installation wizard — Nextcloud latest Administration Manual latest documentation

I tried to check permissions and everything seems alright

namei -l /home/yunohost.app/nextcloud/data/
f: /home/yunohost.app/nextcloud/data/
drwxr-xr-x root root /
drwxr-xr-x root root home
drwxr-xr-x root root yunohost.app
drwxr-xr-x root root nextcloud
drwxr-x--- nextcloud nextcloud data

My data folder is on an external HDD connected via USB to the RPi3B+.

If anyone could point me to the best path to get rid of the error and get Nextcloud back running, I will be really grateful!!

There must have been some lose contact.
While rebooting did not fix the issue, physically disconnecting and reconnecting the HDD did it
