# How to Install/Migrate Nextcloud with PostgreSQL

**What app is this about, and its version** : Nextcloud v32.0.5~ynh1  
**What YunoHost version are you running** : 12.1.39  
**What type of hardware are you using** : VPS bought online

### Describe your issue

I would like to install Nextcloud but using PostgreSQL as the database. How can I do it?

If I already have an installation that is using the default database in the Nextcloud package, how can I migrate to PostgreSQL?

I read [the related issue](https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/nextcloud_ynh/issues/107), I saw [the original PR](https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/nextcloud_ynh/pull/597) and [the rebooted PR](https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/nextcloud_ynh/pull/818), but I don’t really know what to do with them.

### Share relevant logs or error messages

I would be happy to contribute to the official documentation once someone provides some instructions!

From what I understood of the code, you can “just” upgrade to the git tree [GitHub - YunoHost-Apps/nextcloud\_ynh at postgresql\_reboot](https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/nextcloud_ynh/tree/postgresql_reboot) and the migration will run automatically from MySQL to PostgreSQL.

BUT !!!

I have not tested this, I am waiting for this feature, but do not want to try to test this on my prod 😱

My instance was in a kinda broken state after a failed upgrade and troublesome restoration.

So I tried to upgrade using the postgres\_reboot branch. My instance is fixed and feel snappier than with mariaDB.

A big win IMHO.

I’ll keep the pre upgrade backup just in case.
