Hi there,

I have a question regarding the correct configuration of rDNS.

yunohost is running on a subdomain ([yunohost.example.com](http://yunohost.example.com)) on a VPS, but manages the mails for the main domain ([example.com](http://example.com), which is running on my home server).

I achieved this by setting up DNS-entries.
MX for [example.com](http://example.com) points to [yunohost.example.com](http://yunohost.example.com)

I’m writing and receiving mails from addresses in the form of \*@example.com.

Now I’m unsure, how my rDNS entry should look like. Should the IP-Adress be solved to [example.com](http://example.com) or to [yunohost.example.com](http://yunohost.example.com)?

Any help is very much appreciated, and I’m happy to provide more information if necessary.
Samuel

Hi there,

I think I found the solution, as this question is not really yunohost-specific.

The reverse dns entry should be for the mail subdomain, even if this domain is capable of receiving and sending mails for the main domain.

Best regards!

Hi @samuel-ynh,
is this setup to have a mail-only domain still supported in YNH 12.x? To me it seems, that adding a domain [example.com](http://example.com) to YNH the SSO now always redirects from [yunohost.example.com](http://yunohost.example.com) to [example.com](http://example.com) which will fail when YNH does not run its httpd on [example.com](http://example.com)…

It’s still possible, but requires some work:

I’m hosting a fairly big nextcloud instance on my homeserver. which has its own domain (ex. mydomain.org). I would love to use yunohost, to manage mails on mydomain.org and access the nextcloud on [mydomain.org](http://mydomain.org). Right now yunohost runs on a vps and should be accessible under yunohost.mydomain.org. Can I achieve to manage mails through yunohos…

Thanks, that helped me a lot!

Maybe the symlink is no more necessary according to the release notes of YNH 12.1… I’ll check!

Good to hear, the writeup helped you!

If the symlink isn’t neccessary anymore, I would love to hear about it, to update the post.
