### I have searched the forum for similar issues

### This category is for issues regarding specific apps, _NOT_ general issues with YunoHost.

### This form is written in English but feel free to write in French if you’re more comfortable!

on

### What app is this about, and its version

Mastodon 4.7.2~ynh1 and Owncast 0.3.0~ynh1

### What YunoHost version are you running

12.1.41.2 (stable)

### What type of hardware are you using

VPS bought online

### Describe your issue

Hello, I need help. So I can find my owncast server on my mastodon instance (separate issue, solved by enabling ALLOWED\_PRIVATE\_ADDRESSES) and I can physically press the follow button but it does nothing. I get nothing in my Followers tab in the admin. When trying to follow my mastodon server from the owncast homepage, I get “Follow Error. Unable to use provided host as a valid fediverse server.” If I try to follow a random user from let’s say Mastodon Social, it goes there to have me login. I posted this in OwnCast Matrix server too but idk how far I’ll get there either. 🥴

Hey,

It seems to me that here `ALLOWED PRIVATE ADDRESSES` is the local IP to put.

See here for more information:

> **[ALLOWED\_PRIVATE\_ADDRESSES - Configuring your environment - Mastodon...](https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/config/#allowed_private_addresses)**
>
> Mastodon uses environment variables as its configuration. | Setting environment variables for your Mastodon installation.

I put that inside mastodon production file already and it can find owncast. Do I put my own IP for the server cuz I put 127.0.0.1?

I don’t know` Owncast`, I found this:

> **[Enabling social features - Owncast Social Features | Owncast - Free and Open...](https://owncast.online/docs/social/#enabling-social-features)**
>
> Owncast allows people to follow, engage with, and share your stream with others on what is known as The Fediverse, a decentralized network of services. | Allow people to follow your server, know when you go live, share and interact with your stream.

Yes I’m currently on this forum and in the owncast Matrix server trying to figure this out too.

Unfortunately it seems to be something that Yunohost is doing and not an issue of either Mastodon or Owncast.

I’m probably gonna go back to cloudron (ugh, two apps for free) and see if it works there and if it does, I might consider buying a sub again from them.

Ill let you guys know if it works there.

Edit: It does, right out of the box. That’s unfortunate. I wanted to like Yunohost but I guess I gotta move back.

Ok, bye.
